Probably died in '95, but he's officially dead today.
Quite a cutting OB in the Gruniad, seems a shame to concentrate on his poor guitar skills when it was his lyrics and attichood are what defined him. Dunno about the band's limited musical ability - Bradfield is on of the best singing guitarists I've seen (and I've seen in excess of NINE).
Another sad tale of someone not getting the help he needed, when all is said and done.

Bradfield's riffs in Motorcycle Emptiness are exceptional.
As for Edwards, I happen to live very close to the Old Severn crossing. A body has never been found supposedly. This band have the dubious honour of being more tragic than Joy Division even.
I met Richey on several occasions in the early 90s, absolutely charming man with a lovely Welsh lilt, very eager to please, frighteningly intelligent and well-read, but royally fucked up, incredibly insecure, always had this belief that he was a fraudster not a rock star, that he didn't deserve things. First met him when I was doing dressing room security at one of their gigs in 1991, I was already a fan and was able to talk to him and James (Wire was being a cock), Richey was very keen to talk history etc, we had quite a lot of common ground and interests. Saw him a few other times before/after Manics gigs 91/94, he always remembered me, as did James, a thoroughly decent and humble man.
Wherever you are Richey, dead or alive, you weren't a failure.
respect to richey edwards obviously but for me bradfield is the manics and i think he is quality.
