what's up with the wedding present?

And why were they so popular on The Festive 50...? been listening to program from like 82 thru 91 and every other song is by The Wedding Present, of whom i had never even heard previously. were they another personal favorite of John Peel's, like The Fall?

I don't get it--i mean, they kind of suck, no? no offense to any fans here.

They did release about a hundred songs a year, and yes, JP did love 'em.

Lucky you, was supposed to be seeing them at Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms last wed, but a delayed return from some European gigs (the guitarist needed hospital treatment on a rock n roll hedonism induced toe injury) meant it was postponed till March...

JT - how can you, theres only Gedgy left, no grapper et al.. Not right -rather listen to those early 87' 88' Tommy/GB shows To me it would be like going to see the HOL with only Guy Chadwick - me mind telling me to go but my heart saying no. However i still get 'frustrated' when the Weddoes play toon or leeds/holmfirth etc. Dont want the memories spoiling i guess

I know, but they're still a good band. Thought the Bizarro/Seamonsters days were best, some of the old tracks still played. Anyway if I stopped watching bands after their best I'd have stopped watching Norder about 20 years ago.

Think the last tour I went to was Seamonsters in, I think, '92?

David Gedge is a wanker as anyone who knows anything about the band, and the way he's treated most of them, will testify. An opportunist wanker now as well having changed 'Cinerama' into 'The Wedding Present' overnight.

Interesting to see that their gig in Glasgow this Sunday night has been moved from the 800 capacity QMU to the 200 capacity ABC2.

Agree, in fact Take Fountain could be the best they've ever done. El Rey's nowhere near as good. Off to see them tonight in Dub.
