well. When we called it global warming, and things werent gettin warmer, our grants dried up. Soooo we changed the name to climate change...too hot....it's climate change...too cold....climate change....too wet, too dry, too much snow, leaves on the railway line....it's all climate change and the gravy train keeps rolling on.

Want to save Co2 emissions? Kill a climate activist. Each climitard produces several tons of Co2 in their life just by breathing....best to knock that on the head ASAP.

If it's a CRT television it WILL die considerably earlier from constant power cycling. LCD I'm not so sure about as their power-up cycle seems quite tame. One thing IS for sure though.....skip ONE shower, and you can run your TV on standby for about a year.....why do they never tell people to miss the odd shower/bath/washing machine load? why? because it's all just made up media nonsense.

Well of course if it heated by an underhround heat exchanger or solar panels or something it might use next to nothing.....but 99% of households are still using leccy or gas.

Tis a valid point you make about devices being obselete before they wear out, I think that's probably true of most people. I hadn't really thought about it that way as it's not really "my way" of doing things, I much prefer to run things into the ground (far more enviro-mental)....when I upgrade my PC I always make damned sure the previous one has a cushie retirement ahead of it, or is donated to a needy friend of relative.....I feel ill seeing working machines destroyed.....and yes, that DOES mean my house is full of insane old gadgets that outght to have been buried years ago.
