Cheese on toast

Friday afternoon again, finished for the day, the week and the year! Going over to Harrogate to see Kate Rusby tonight so a bit of a snack is needed which do I go for?

I would combine the cheddar and red leicester and have the chillis as well.

Tescos Cheese singles.All i had left in the fridge at 3am this morning when i couldn't sleep.Gave me some right weird dreams afterwards.

I also finished work today for 2008.Not back til January 5th.

I fear there are no tongues within cheeks in this thread.

What we have is genuinely dull people....

I would go for Cheshire cheese with thinly sliced jalapenos, meself, and perhaps, dare I say it, some fried button mushrooms. Or am i just talking pizza..

have not seen her live but i saw kate rusby on tv live last year and she was very good

Sorry to disappoint. I found the cheddar wasn't viable so went for the Red Leicester with Green Chillies (so much nicer than red).

Lucy had cheshire with worcester sauce.

Both on wholemeal (obviously).

PS Despite saying bye bye he's still watching.

Now I like pepper, I have it on most things. But I thought EVERYONE had it on CoT?

any respectable italian would put pepper on a his pizza. cheese on toast is of course maybe 2 or maybe 3 levels above any pizza.so surely is worthy of black pepper more

Aye, only the fookin italians could get £17.50 out of you for cheese on toast with a bit of ketchup.

Anway.....In my yoof, I was a follower of the school of "toast one side, flip over, place cheese on the untoasted side and return to grill". But in my mid 20's a young lady demanded I feed her CoT prepared as follows...."toast both sides of the bread, butter one side thoroughly, right to the edges, apply cheese to this side and return to grill". Apparently the butter prevents the exposed bread from burning during it's second toasting. More recently I became a fan of making a cheese sarny and then "toasting" it in an unoiled frying pan. However, I have since discovered "toastie bags"....little heat resistant plastic bags....you make yer cheese sanger, bung it in the bag, then put the lot in the toaster. The results are extremely pleasant, if not exactly "cheese on toast" per se. Also this technique is obviously no use if you really like a little bit of light charring on your cheese as it is not exposed to direct radiant heat.

Are there further variations?
