i found one for sale today at Hobgoblin music in Manchester(opposite the BBC roughly)

this is sooooo mint, it sounds like a synth, really good bass, and its still in its original guy and in great condition.

i am not acting on behalf of the shop or trying to make a sale bcos its been sat there for a while.

just posting this in case theres an interest because i cannot afford it otherwise it would be mine by now. i am seriously considering stealing it.

im hoping someone can pass this onto the ex-digital guys and re-order people, i've tried Hookys Six String Bass through the Shergold webshite but no luck.

or pass it onto mates who have any interest.

or even better - help me borrow it permenatly! thanks, rick

having not seen it i can't be 100% sure, but as far as i know shergold 8 string basses were all doubled up 4 string, like the 12 string guitar.

have a look here: http://www.shergold.co.uk/gallery.html?class=multibass

That's pretty much what I thought....that and double neckers of course.

I'd imagine that a double string arrangement would be a total cunt to play though, what ya think?

played an 8 string washburn a while back (about 18 years ago:eek3: ) and that was good to play, but hamer do a 12 string, which is 3 octaves, as used by jacks favourite bass player(NOT HIS DAD), jeff ament:nuts:

You'd need finger tips like table tennis paddles to play that FFS.

Well, I'm a total numpty, I play gauges that'd be better off on a guitar, even on my lowly 4 stringer (too many dirge gigs with borrowed basses, that were wearing heavy-as-fuck strings, and had never been set up, so had action measured in feet.....it's left me with an aversion to having to do anything harder than THINK the string onto the rosewood.)

CLOSE. 9/10 for effort ;) quote this to see what I changed. EDIT: Actually what not just do it by hand and to fuck with NOOL's whacky little bug......

Just copy the link and paste it in to your post as normal, thusly.......

http://www.hamerguitars.com/?fa=detail&mid=395

Then put "url" in front of it and "/url" after it (with them square brackety fuckers where I put the quotes).....

http://www.hamerguitars.com/?fa=detail&mid=395

TADA!!! and you can call yourself a web designer (as if you'd want to)

EDIT once again....... The url= thingy is for when you want a link to appear as some other text, it looks like this (again replace the "" with square brackets)

"url=http://www.hamerguitars.com/?fa=detail&mid=395"clicky clicky linky"/url"

and you get clicky clicky linky

As for the bass......WOW. I suppose having the octave strings "below" the root string it makes it a tiny bit less painful to play.

Thanks Geno, I would love this bass- but i've over done it on the bass buying front lately... When I had my 6 string made Jack Golder let me have a go on one he had in his workshop (and a 6 string modulator), what a great sound. I'd forgoten all about it till I saw this post........ one day i'll add an 8 string to my ever growing Shergold collection!

go for it, as you once told me sell your sperm sell your mother sell sell sell

you just have too buy it.

can you still donate sperm for money these days? i dont think id make a good rent boy, but id consider it for this bass, i dreamt about it last night too.

whats a resonable price for this bass btw. bcos dealers always put shergolds up apparently. thanks, rick
