the appeal that the BBC is skirting is surely directed at the population of a country that is NOT directly responsible for the bombing/carnage if you'd asked: should the swedish* media broadcast an appeal for the victims of the bombing of dresden...? that would be more comparable
*although it's harder to pin down a country that wasn't implicated subjectively as part of the second world war than our more detached, less informed view of the events in Gaza.

Would it be fair to say that, although the decision stinks of shit in a moral sense, in terms of the BBC's (ostensible) remit it makes absolute sense. Or is this to miss the point?
Either way, there was a very funny cartoon in The Guardian today with Jonathon Ross making a gentle appeal on behalf of the people of Gaza....

Not wanting to get into any great detail (after all, its not going to be read) but no one has yet to inform me of:
1- Why Hamas started firing rockets into Israel 2- Why Hamas feels the need to store its munitions in schools, hospitals and peoples homes. 3- Why Hamas made precisley zero effort to protect its people this last month 4- Why Hamas used Human Shields during the last month (which was particularly baffling, as when Milosevic did it in 99 he was universally condemned, this time hardly anyone bothers to mention it). 5- Why people are upset about the BBC not showing this, when it didnt show anything about South Ossestia and Georgia last Summer, or in conflicts previous.
If you want to donate, fine. I have no problem with that (although I wont be for reasons explained Here )
