This week in the news, Thomas Lubanga was in court on charges of war crimes, including use of child soliders in (the apparently) Democratic Republic of Congo. Also in the news, was the controversy of the BBC and Skys choice not to show the DEC appeal to give money to Hamas (on the grounds they would pass the aid onto the Palestinians), the same organisation which has used child suicide bombers?
Why is that I am expected to be appalled at the first yet sympathise with the second?
