I've been listening to a fair amount of James since I saw them at Brixton last December with Nickos Kingos. As they're of New Order's musical era, from Manchester and were briefly on Factory etc I assume there is a reasonable fan base for them on here.

I've recently picked up most of the albums I didn't have and "Seven" is currently on heavy iPod rotation for me although I rate the later stuff as much as the early stuff. The trio of Millionaires/Pleased to Meet You/Hey Ma albums are deeply underrated in my opinion.

Not just an excellent singles band... the albums are equally as consistent.

Any views?

'Strip Mine' bought it on the day of its release, still gets an airing in Bitch View every now and again

Their live stuff is RIGHT up there for me..

Said it before bout em,but...The studio albums,though better than a good proportion of the shite getting churned out by so many bands these days,is averaaaaj when put up against their live gear...in my opinion.

James is a singles band to me, I really love Seven though. Think "Don't Wait That Long" is amazing, especially that live performance, from 92 I believe.

don't own it; don't really want to, but it seemed to be the soundtrack to a very good summer.

worked on their gig at the Ritz back in the day, Mondays supported and Gav was still on drums. The tensions between Gav and Tim Booth were obvious to anyone.

worked backline with Gav at the second of the Ian Brown dates last year at G-Mex ( or Central as it is now ) really nice fella, I hadn't worked backline for a hell of a long time and he took the time to make sure I didn't look a twat and fuck up. well I didn't fook up, but I probably looked a twat

but I agree they're a better live proposition.
