I used to listen to it while growing up, and it played the obscure shit you wouldn't hear anywhere else except the Buffalo State radio station. Now, when i visit my family and tune in, its crap. Just the usual 'alternative'rock.

I have listened to 102.1 for many years. They played better music when they were still the "sprit of radio". They played more of the old new wave type of music. I won tickets to Morrissey from them as well way back when...front row seats right behind a huge speaker! It was still fun though!
Growing up in Toronto, CFNY defined a whole era of music for me..esp with New Order..I used to spend hours every evening taping all my fave songs..even staying up til 3am on weekends taping the live-to-air dance shows...
then GRUNGE came along and slowly changed the station into something totally different..all my fave from Morrissey to PSB are no longer played..
I havent been living in Toronto for many years so I don't know how bad that has gotten but I assume its even worse now..but it will always an important part of my (musical)upbringing..
