Cambo question for ya, turned on the comp earlier and went to my favorites and now for some reason on both my facebook and hotmail link on my faves there is GND in bright red letters at the side of em,any ideas?
GND is also in my address bar when i go on both hotmail and facebook.
The other question:
How do i Permanently delete Windows Messenger from my/any comp?

Configuration panel, then add/delete applications or something alike - don't know how it is called in English. Find Windows Messenger. Choose uninstall.

The messenger delete is for my friend.
I tried uninstalling it a few times and did get rid,but i wanted to know how to PERMANENTLY delete,if at all possible,as his daughter keeps putting the messenger back on.
As he had a pretty old computer,the messenger is slowing it down to fook!

I have three suspicions.....
Your mate can still use something like Gaim or Miranda or any of a dozen very light clients that can connect to MSN. It's just messenger that's a cunt. It's a double cunt because there are two of them....even after you kill MSmess.....there may still be windowsmess, which is a system service and needs to be killed off in the system control panel. I hate windows.

I downloaded a film overnight, left it running..
Woke up in the morning to find the PC had reset itself, and in the opening XP screen bottom left corner, instead of 'Turn off Computer' it said 'Turn off Bastard Computer'.

- Malware of some kind....run adaware and spybot and do a virus scan.
- If it's Firefox, it could be some daft addon with an obsession for showing you sites where you can talk to your mates.
- It's a security alert from some vigilant piece of software on your machine trying to label the sites as "here be dragons"......certainly facebook is bordering on malware in terms of it's treatment of user data, but I rather thought MS had sorted snotmail out in the that department.

Done a few scans and searched windows for probs on my comp,the GND has dissapeared now? 
? i also sorted that system 32 error i mentioned a few months back,was something missing from intel graphics media accelerator,the error had been on my comp since the first day i bought it,sorted now tho!
As for the messenger,my mate dont want to use messenger at all,its just his daughter that constantlt re-installs it after i delete it.
Think i've found a way to "block" it now tho.
Its amazing the things you learn when you actually LOOK INTO the stuff in the average computer!

Got AVG on this, but wanted to install Kapersky, but even though I think I have deleted AVG, it's still there - well Kapersky is saying it is and therefore won't install.
How do I get rid of it?
Bloody hell you lot. I've got a sick one lying on the floor here too, looks like it needs a transplant from one of my own to save it :(
Burt, you're fucked. Unless you live with someone who knows how to use Regedit for mischeif, someone has done something nasty to your machine. I doubt your download is the problem unless you had something set to open it automatically once it completed. Again, sweep it for evil with adaware, spybot and your antivirus.

Kath....did you actually uninstall AVG in the control panel, or just whale on in there and start with the delete key?
Also, there is a big problem with the AV360 virus at the moment. Its a scam antivirus inflicting horrific malware on the user and its the worst of its kind for 20 years.
delete everything with a/av360 in it. then download 'spyware-doctor'

- regedit (go right thru the system registry)
- task manager
- system restore
