Still it is a right of a State to secede if it desires to do so.* I have serious doubts that this isn't just a ploy or some sort of joke. Even if it happened, don't see a large Civil War reenactment, as the population can't stomach such things anymore like they could back in then.

I'm against a large federal government and think state government should have more power... as originally instituted by the Constitution... but the more time goes by, the more the federal government starts to control more and more.

*The military might be stronger than a state militia, but do keep in mind that about 1/3 of those that go in the military come from Texas....

There has been talk here in California for years that the US drags the state down. It has the population, import and exports to actually be able to survive on its own and could secede if it wanted to...

California's government spending has been an issue far before this issue with our current economy... ring in Grey Davis, the dem legistlative branch and its years of overspending on feel-good projects.

...Not to mention Boxer, Palozi, and Fienstien are all far left-wingers I simply can't stand (them or thier politics)....

That still doesn't explain why the state's economy would nose-dive after secession, when the state is run by the same people both before and after secession.

What I'm trying to understand, and what you haven't explained yet, is why the state's economy [NOTE: the economy and the state budget are not the same thing] would crash post-secession, but not pre-secession, if the state is run by the same people before and after secession.
