Someone will have to teach Brown how to sing live again.
Actually, could he ever sing live?
Can't see how Mani can fit it all in with the Scream and Freebass.
Won't make any difference to me, I was never that bothered about the Roses anyway.

We've had this every year for about the last 6. Then Ian Brown comes out and says"Nah,it's bollocks"
It's well known he hates Squire.Let's see what he says this time.

The Scream's latest album came out during the middle of last year and I don't think they're actually on tour at the moment. Don't see any plans for them this year either. I think expectations of a Freebass release or gig before 2010 have hit the skids really. All the promises of celeb guest vocalists, festival dates never minding a proper record are a bit long in the tooth now; we've had it since 2005. Don't get me wrong if they do bring something out on iTunes or whatever I'd dip my hand in my pocket but it's turned into a bit of a farce the waiting around for that band.
It would be funny to see the Roses reform actually... up until now Brown has had "impeccable cred" for not reforming and grabbing the resultant fat wad of cash. If he does a U turn now even he will have to admit it goes against everything he's said in print for the last 15 years. Stuff like "Squire makes music for himself, I make music for the people..." yadda yadda.
Big fan of his first few solo albums (Golden Greats = pure genius) but lately in interview he's developed a proper messiah complex almost to the point of where he thinks his poo doesn't stink.

Mani once said on Soccer AM ,that the Roses will only reform when Man City win the European Cup - might be possible now in a few years?
First album is good , but everything else and Ian Browns solo stuff doesn't interest me - prefered the Happy Mondays out of all the Madchester related groups.
Must admit while I like both, always preferred the Roses.
I don't think the Mondays had one full LP that had the uninterrupted quality of the Roses debut from start to finish. The Mondays always seemed a singles band to me but they were brilliant singles.
The Roses seemed to have it all... singles, b sides, album tracks etc.
A 20th-anniversary edition of the band's debut, remastered by original producer John Leckie, is set to be released in June.
Excellent. I hope it's two CDs with a shedload of rarities. It better not have that dreadful word "deluxe" anywhere, though...

I think "Bummed" is the Happy Mondays perfect album,not a bad song on it - in my opinion.The mixes of WFL were fantastic as well . I was disappointed when I first heard Pills,Thrills & Bellyaches, as it had lost the raw sound and I never really got into it.
"I am the Resurrection" is the greatest finish to an album I have ever heard. I always put that song on the pub jukebox as you certainly get your moneys worth.
For learning guitar, Squires riffs are essential listening. The guitar is nicely mixed on that 89 album. The frequently dismissed album 'The Complete Stone Roses' is great also.
Renee and Steve Morris are a class above.

true, but then the second coming blows everything out of the water, i thought i was mint learning that album on guitar until i heard second coming,
and as for steve n reni they just dont get enough praise, they are feckin mint!
If it is true (c'mon, let's face it, how many times have we heard it before?), then John Squire is going to have a busy year

I don't know about the last bit.....did anyone see him on SkyArts channel a couple o weeks back....he was sitting for his portrait......the painter was that owd fella who used to forge loads of famous paintings......cannot think of his name....anyway they got along famously ......due to the fact that they'd both been in clink.......and at the end of the sitting Brown was genuinely impressed saying the bloke was a genius....Brown came across as very normal.

We're all free to like what we like,and rightly so,but I could have wrote what you just did,myself.
Roses were my band.....of the time some say,but not me..I say they were shit-hot in any time...

I met Ian Brown at his aborted gig in Boro last year,by chance and he was actually a pretty steady fella,with the softest leather jacket I've ever encountered,on the public fire exit..if a little short for a stormtrooper,but hey !
And the bitches loved him,really loved him

You missed the Roses second album then, Ally? 
Er, and Bummed presumably? 
I said the Roses debut mind... the second album is a different kettle of fish and pretty average. I tried in vain to get into it years ago but bar 3 or 4 tracks you can hear why it all ended in arguments.
I've got the Bummed remaster and it's a fine album... just prefer the Roses debut "overall".
Shaun Ryder has better teeth than Ian Brown though.

The Roses were 'my band' too. Big time. Think it was an age thing, I was 15 when the album came out. I was 16 when I queued up for 6 hours the day before my Modern Studies Higher to get a ticket for their famous Glasgow Green show (12 June 1990, the last they ever played with Renni). I loved 'em.
That said, I wouldn't be interested in a re-union. Why bother? They were shit when they came back in '94. They're only gonna be shitter now. Don't piss away your legacy chaps.
Both Squire and Brown have dismissed these latest rumours as rubbish; apparently Squire hasn't really touched the guitar in years.
Not like the tabloids to print a load of old bollocks which can't be backed up with fact (!)
Still, good news the band's legacy - well, the first album anyway - remains intact

Nor would it be remotely like a record company and their marketing strategists to spread commercially useful disinformation in the immediate build-up to a high-profile reissued, repackaged, comes-with-second-CD-full-of-sexy-extras re-release of a classic album.....

Funny, i used to do that over here in the bars in Holland as well, no jukboxes but i requested the song loads of times and it always got played...and i alwas was surprised about the fact that many peeps know the song, great sing-a-long! ace
