I had the unfortunate experience of having to use a payphone in the village earlier.

Cell phones have almost made them obsolete... they gotta pay for them somehow.

 I tried to use a payphone a few weeks back when I'd left my mobile somewhere. I drove to five different ones, three of them that are not there anymore - the other two out of order. I gave up, after swearing quite a lot.

Same over here. Cell phone died and I needed to contact someone (almost in the middle of nowhere). The new gas stations didn't have even one, and those places used to be gauranteed to have one. Finally found one at a grocer, but all it did was take my change and lose the dial tone. Eventually went in and asked the bagboy if I could use his cell.... should have done that from the start.

Not used a pay-phone since I last picked one up........it had a condom on the receiver. That image will stay with me!

I felt a right teat.

I used one a couple months ago at piccadilly with my credit card. 30 second phone call to say "i'm getting a cab be there in a bit" was 2 fucking pounds
