Depeche Mode have canceled their appearance at Glastonbury 2009 because they say they don’t agree with the other acts on the bill.

Keyboard player Andy Fletcher told the Daily Star, “we do a lot of festivals in Europe but not so many in the U.K. Glastonbury would be fun but the line-up didn’t quite work for us. Getting the right bill is important.”

The recent announcements regarding the line-up that have caused quite a stir around the younger generations of Glastonbury goers and now apparently the bands as well!

FANTASTIC NEWS - I don't want crap like them there

Well, I do believe that artists have the right to do that... This year's Summersonic music festival (in Japan) has a crap lineup, like Beyonce and Linkin Park...and although somewhat more better artists will be coming to Fuji Rock, I can't go because of uni exams.

Anyway...life goes on. :read:

Their latest video is interesting. An apparently bound and gagged man is alone in a car and, without his control, reversing at speed through city streets. Masks a rather crap tune of course. Don't quite understand why Depeche Mode feel they have a right to be still around (if they ever did) It's like they think they're serious respected artists or something, up there with the likes of The Beatles, New Order and Velvet Underground.

Hmmm not sure new order really deserve to be in amongst those two bands.

What, are DM afraid the fans are going to laugh at or ignore them? What, are the other acts anti-abortion or nazis? What a bunch of drama queens DM.

Must not have been paid more than the other bands or something. What is their live show anyway... Dave snaps his fingers above his head and dances like an idiot, Gore plays some simple guitar to show off while a bunch of unknown guys do the actual music playing or hit buttons to play pre-recorded music. Wait, that kinda describes New Order in 2005-6... at least they had Steve.

Beyonce AND Linkin Park? Are they trying to increase the suicide rate?

Maybe Amy Winehouse's aunt could take Depeche Mode's place...?

That would be horrendous, though I wonder if the Winehouse family shares an eyeliner set.
