Mr. Scruff's refreshment tents are legendary - the only place to go and get a decent mug of tea (yup, mug!) on a festival site overlooking the river! :)

(Along with a Pieminister pie, mash and gravy)!

I'm only going for the day (i.e. tomorrow), but that'll be one of my first ports of call!

don't get to see gigs much but when i do, i thoroughly enjoy them. usually the only sober person there. is it possible to feel alienated in a crowd/

erm, Yo La Tengo, the Happy Mondays opening for the Psychedelic Furs.......and because I love a good freak show, the return of the Butthole Surfers. Band Of Horses is a probable, I'm sure there's a couple of others I'm forgetting, I'll be checking out the PDX gig listings on Wednesday.

Seen them a couple of times over the last year, utter quality. You will enjoy. C86 with a 21st century twist!

Pipettes and Lucky Soul last night wese entertainig with lots of band 'cross pollenisation' i.e. they played on each others sets. Allo Darling were first on and brought a load of twee anorak board members out. First time I've seen more folk watching the opening act than the headline. Shame about the Pipettes..not a single one of their original girl singers remains and just Gwen :food: from the first album release when they were packing Koko and getting rave reviews. About 150 people watching them last night in a room above a pub.

passion pit at the leadmill are all i have in my diary at the moment. saw TPOBPAH on my birthday - they were marvellous, but the manhattan love suicides were just NOISY.

oh! and i'm going to see the scala choir in bruges. i can't wait.

I missed The Joy Formidable at Bella at the weekend by an hour. The result of driving up in a forty year old VW splitty that doesn't go above 55mph. There's high quality footage of them on Youtube from that gig. Looked ace.

Actually Mr Pedantic it's only 34 years old. It is a very rare 1975 model which was only produced in South Africa for one year using a job lot of leftover splitty parts from Brazil. I do however also have a 1960 model in mint condition. 49 years old and not a spot of rust.

pedantic? you said it was forty years old & i thought that was quite late for a splitty, was a serious question!

the '60 dub sounds nice :nod: no rust? good job this isn't the doves thread! (have to wonder how often it's allowed out to play in scotland then)

'Boy that cried wolf' syndrome Dave! I thought you were alluding to the fact that they stopped making splittys in 67. The 1960 beast is safely garaged awaiting it's second new engine in 8 months. They're both pick-ups by the way, not campers. Like campers with the back bit cut off!

i didn't klnow what year it was, just that 69 would be quite late.

they changed the shape on t3's drastically in 67 as well, lengthened the bonnet & ruined it a bit in my mind - that when they stopped doing oval window t1's?

seems to have been a year of changes in the other models

I would have been to any of their concerts around here too, if they wouldn't play the big arenas only now. I hate those huge impersonal venues :(.
