Shergold 8string bass.....

An 8-string bass (technically, 4 courses of 2 strings each) is a very different animal from the 6-string basses that Hooky plays. It is to the 4-string bass what a 12-string guitar is to a regular guitar, and thus doesn't have the extended range of a 6-string. It's possible that he's never touched or even seen one.
You could get it and leave off the extra strings to get a standard 4-banger, but I don't think any of Hooky's 4-strings were Shergolds, so it wouldn't get you any closer to what he played than a P-bass would.
Interesting and unusual guitar though.
i know, i really really really want it, its been the shop for years and its also been a grand, robbing bastards £250 top price plus hardcase is what they should be asking
i do get a little smug as im always in asking if they have sold it yet anyone interested etc etc and nope no-one, there's only been me really, but still its a grand
wankers..
I had a look at one up Oxford Road last March.Didn't have a go but it looked a bastard to play.4 strings behind 4 strings.
Yeah, I bet it would be.
The gang at shergold.co.uk reckon £999 is way too much for that bass.
