Then I would like to impress upon him the fact that '3001: the Final Odyssey' as written by the genial Arthur C. Clarke has 'just' been released.

With reviews alread claiming 'This book has all the answers' and 'Read it to see what happens next' I'm sure P (and George who I think is on holiday) would be invogorated at the prospect of digesting an important piece of prophetic scientific literature.

He may still be in his infancy attempting to comprehend the power of 'Regret', but no person with a free mind and zest for understanding 'something' beyond our comprehension can fail to be excited at this, the third and possibly (depending on initial sales figures) final instalment of the 2001 series.

Put PC&L on the gramophone, pour out a cold beer (or hot coffee), lay back in the recliner, relax, and pick up the vision of our future that Arthur has now crafted in between meals.

To everyone, it would be foolish to ignore this event, just like it was silly to imagine a world without butter.

"3001" has been out a few years, right? At any rate, I never made it through "2001" (the book, not the movie) but i keep meaning to get around to it.
