Echo & The Bunnymen-The Fountain due out 10/12

So I just found out recently that The Fountain, the newest album by Echo & The Bunnymen is due out October 12 and even Amazon.com is offering samples. I have to admit this took my by surprise as The Fountain was starting to earn a reputation to rival that of Axl Rose's Chinese Democracy so to hear that it was actually done and being finally released was a bit of a shocker.

I've had a chance to listen to the Think I Need It Too single and despite the fact it's the same version they demoed last year and there are no significant upgrades as far as I can tell I thought it was OK. It's pleasant sure enough and inspirational to boot, but it's not going to recreate Porcupine or Ocean Rain in my opinion (although I probably shouldn't be expecting it to in the first place).

Anyway just wondering if any of you have had the chance to check out the single and had any thoughts on it or the album.

Anyway, thought I'd report for those who care that the band is offering a free download of lead single Think I Need It Too from their official website wwww.bunnymen.com. The more and more I hear it the more and more I like it, personally.

Hope I can make it to their live show when they come by my neck of the woods next month.

I'm a fan, and I actually like their more recent albums Flowers and What are you going to do with your life, though the prior one Siberia, felt a little tired to me. I'll chec this one out, thanks for the heads up.

I agree-Siberia was a bit hit and miss, though I did genuinely enjoy Stormy Weather. I think I like Think I Need It Too better though.

The Fountain is out today!

Reviews have been so far mixed to positive, with some people saying the band sounds rejuvenated and Ian McCulloch in particular is at his best lyrically and accessibly in a very long time.

Anyone have a chance to pick it up yet?

It's unfortunate to hear that-many people were hoping that this album would showcase Ian reclaiming some of his former vocal prowess given his lacklustre performance on the tow or three most recent Buunnymen albums. Sounds like nothing much has changed then...
