I got my copy signed by Hooky at Fopp, London on Friday night. Haven't read it yet but have blogged about it: That's Not My Age

Nice blog post and good story. :)

Yup, I've read it twice, and probably will again sometime. Alot of very interesting stuff in there, plus it's a fun book to read. :thumb:

P.S. There were well over 100 people at the London signing

Good so far, can't believe how many people he's dropped in it first couple of chapters, sorting him out with some charlie. Have temporarily suspended reading, because Mike from our band's lent me THE FALLen,about history of THE FALL,in the eyes of Mr Smith and his many ex-members.Another good read.

I thought it was fantastic. Lots of exaggeration on Hooky's part but still a brilliant read. Having been involved in that 'racket' in my past I was comforted to read about him and the rest of 'em making the same mistakes re personal guarantee's (signing of), brewery loans/advance discount and buying the freehold at the height of the market after renting for a couple of years. Getting stress from the police to deal with perceived troublemakers on the one hand while getting offered zero help to do this on the other rang bells also.

A great book. And all the better for avoiding re-telling the Factory/Joy Division story which is what I though was going to dominate it. That said, an actual autobiography would be most welcome as well.

Finished it,in some ways sad that he hung on to being 17, only to see his money fritter away, then again what a life ,, would you realy want to be involved with manc gangsters though, and he confirms somewhere in the credits that joy division is going to be his next book project,, if its half as entertaining:evil4:

thats the price that we all pay.

Hooky is on Absolute Radio right now spouting the usual stuff. Must say I am enjoying the book, particularly the anecdote about Nico getting pissed off with Alan Wise trying to fuck her in the arse. Hooky blames the drugs for her lack of libido; I'd blame the prospect of sleeping with Mr Wise.

It does beg the question of whether there is anyone Alan hasn't tried to have anal sex with?
