Taking the girlfriend to see a musical :o in manc on sat night (at the opera house) and was planning to go to Mash and Air beforehand for a bit of tucker, but it looks like its closed down. Anyone got any recommendationns for somewhere else thats in the vicinity?

Depends what you're in the mood for, but I can personally recommend Dimitris 
Chaophraya - proper expensive but never been anywhere better, plus they sing happy birthday in thai and some huge chef women comes out to bang shit in tune to it:D
Dimitris is alright if you want to get pissed whilst eating tapas.
If you like thai I would recommend Koh Samui on Princess St
pre-theatre me and mrs garymac usually plump for tapas at el-rincon or a pizza at croma if time or lack of it is a factor. if we have got a more leisurely pace in front of us then the modern at urbis does the trick, anyway here's a few; phone ahead for details bookings etc, el rincon you just turn up and join in, dimitris is a nice place too
and if you dont want to buy overpriced sweeties and minty things with noisy wrappers at the theatres concession stand then there's a tesco and sainsbury metro at the top of the road

obsidian, great food good location, not far from former mash n air
mongolian barbecue, different; a fun way to eat, same as the one in dublin. impresses the hell out of me watching the lads and lasses cook on a big fook off pan with what looks like pool cues. in/near the former site of mash and air
yang sing for dim sum
if you're at the palace theatre the cornerhouse over the road does decent fare but getting a table can be well tricksy
and for your own sake avoid anything in the printworks unless you really want a burger next to a display cabinet of used plectrums and prince's g string or a nando chicken wing in a basket or indeed any over priced poorly served shite
also avoid hot dog vendors and their like until after closing time

Dimitri's or the Gaucho Grill (which also has an alreet bar next door and a Revolution next door but one).
Can't understand why Dimitris is getting such a lot of attention on this thread. It's okay, but there's better places to eat in Mcr. There's better tapas places on the same street.
It does, however, have Red Stripe on draft and I have a great story that ends with "there's the answer to the next question, I don't swallow".
Thanks for the suggestions, tried Abode first but all they do on an afternoon is sarnies and pizza's!! Went to Gaucho but we were put off by the intimidating entrance. Ended up in San Marco's which we really enjoyed. Then went to see blood brothers, what a load od shite - we left at half time so was home in time for MOTD, result!
