Cat amongst the pigeons probably but I've found after watching the final episode of series 6 Peep Show on Friday and also having just polished off series 2 of The Inbetweeners that I actually preferred the latter far more.
Don't get me wrong Peep Show still has lots of memorable one liners but there seemed to be a massive amount of treading water in this series. They were up to date making life "credit crunchy" for Mark by losing his job and continuing the paranoid downward spiral by being totally disjointed from his kid's birth. Unfortunately Jez's story was a total repeat of his antics in just about every other series I.e. he "falls in love" with a girl in the same flat block and it all fucks up in his face. Just kept watching it thinking, I've seen this done in series "x" much better. Hans and Johnson (bar his "bedroom office" episode) were totally underused.
The Inbetweeners in many ways feels like a prequel to Peep Show with Will's character being a dead ringer for Mark and Jay is basically Jez except he lies (a lot) more. The humour's perhaps a bit more puerile but I've not seen another show that's made me laugh out loud quite as much. Hard to believe it's languishing on E4 at present... gotta be in line for Friday night C4 slot next series?
Anyone else compared the two?
