Cat amongst the pigeons probably but I've found after watching the final episode of series 6 Peep Show on Friday and also having just polished off series 2 of The Inbetweeners that I actually preferred the latter far more.

Don't get me wrong Peep Show still has lots of memorable one liners but there seemed to be a massive amount of treading water in this series. They were up to date making life "credit crunchy" for Mark by losing his job and continuing the paranoid downward spiral by being totally disjointed from his kid's birth. Unfortunately Jez's story was a total repeat of his antics in just about every other series I.e. he "falls in love" with a girl in the same flat block and it all fucks up in his face. Just kept watching it thinking, I've seen this done in series "x" much better. Hans and Johnson (bar his "bedroom office" episode) were totally underused.

The Inbetweeners in many ways feels like a prequel to Peep Show with Will's character being a dead ringer for Mark and Jay is basically Jez except he lies (a lot) more. The humour's perhaps a bit more puerile but I've not seen another show that's made me laugh out loud quite as much. Hard to believe it's languishing on E4 at present... gotta be in line for Friday night C4 slot next series?

Anyone else compared the two?

i hadn't given it any thought whatsoever, but now that i do, i agree with everything you've said. except maybe that prequel stuff. i don't know. it's late.

sometimes the things jay comes out with on the inbetweeners makes me actually physically flinch, but that aside, it's just so endearing and heart-warming and hilarious. i ADORE simon.

hasn't it been on C4 at all? i thought it had been on there first and repeated on E4? or the other way round. i don't know. it's late.

I think they've put repeats on Friday night C4 but only shown new episodes on E4 so far.... meant prequel in a loose sense probably; Will and Mark seem almost identical in their neurosis and approach to women.

The fact Jay lies his arse off consistently about sex and getting his end away is just brilliant as is the fact all his mates knows he's full of it (Will: "I've never cooked for an imaginary woman before").

Peep Show for me. The last two episodes in this series were just brilliant - the party, and then that drunk rant by Jez to end the final episode.

Inbetweeners has got its hand-tied because they're all at school. It's not gonna work beyond much more than another series, surely? Would be a bit weird beyond that. They can't let them grow up.

For all the Inbetweeners is funny, Peep Show takes some beating.. that Jez is something else..better rants than Liam !
