U2 will headline next year's Glastonbury Festival, organisers have confirmed.
The band will take the stage on the Friday night (June 25) of the Somerset bonanza as the festival celebrates its 40th anniversary.
Michael Eavis said: "The 26-year-old rumour has finally come true. At last, the biggest band in the world are going to play the best festival in the world! Nothing could be better for our 40th anniversary party. And there are even more surprises in the pipeline..."
All 177,500 tickets for the 2010 event sold out within 24 hours earlier this year.
