I am absolutely loving the 'chaos' that the wee smattering of snow has brought to the beautiful south east. Facebook updates are the best:
"Golly gosh, Jeremy*, it's cold!"
"Blast - I can't get into work!"
"I'm so scared - it's like 'The Day After tomorrow'. Is this the end of the world??!"
"Where's my mummy????"
* - NB - everyone in the South East is called "Jeremy". Even the lasses. FACT.
But the Christmas Holidays have started early!
In fairness, Cambridge is ludicrous for snow today. We shut today because a lot of out students either cycle in, or come from the sticks. Its probably not the safest day to be travelling, and with the last day of term and it being a half day, its probably a sensible decision.
Doesnt help me as my Pet Shop Boys ticket for Sunday night is on my desk, which I obviously cant access. Fuckers.
I had a look out the window this morning, and it's touch and go. I have to go to Worthing, which is about a two and a half hour drive, on a normal day.
The main problem is getting back if it tips it down again, which is widely predicted this afternoon.
And it's a Friday.. and my company are c___s.
So a coffee morning for me...
Edit: Just watched a black cab take the best part of ten minutes trying to get up the hill near me. It's an entirely justified decision.
No pub closures have been reported.
I got 3 funerals today,one of which is a graveside service which means standing around in the freezing cold listening to some misguided fool spouting of about our dear lord!:rip:
Snow's just ace, isn't it. Love the way it muffles all the sounds so everything appears deathly calm.
Snorebans looked like a Xmas Card this morning. Which is nice.
