i could ask Google but then you guys wouldn't have anything to do.
1.How would one go about recording a live gig?
2.Which device's would produce the best recording?
3.Where should i stand? (in the front duh!)
4.Do you like pudding?
-any other tips?

No.
Position yourself square in front of the soundboard, or in the front row of the balcony if the venue has one.
I use a M-AUDIO MICRO TRACK 24/96 Compact flash recorder with a Sony Microphone.
Stand about 15 feet from the stage in the centre.
I then thransfer to PC and use Cool Edit Pro to tidy up and track mark and then burn to cd's with Nero.

Don't forget to have about fifty of your mates standing next to you 'singing' along all through the gig.
In fact, why not get completely pissed and 'sing' along yourself? See if you can sing louder than them!
