The critics raved on about screamadelica but as an album is mostly filler. 2 decent tracks maybe.

And its an Andrew Weatherall album in all but name. All of their other material is fairly piss poor Stonesy rock.

Gerald isn't on the agenda that's for sure, as would be pretty much the whole of the Chicago scene.

Anyway.. for me the best parts of Screamadelica were produced by the New Orleans blues producer Jimmy Miller (and on the follow up Dixie narco EP).

The whole shock for me about the album at the time after hearing Loaded (clearly a Weatherall/Farley composition), and knowing what a shambles they were (they supported NO at Wembley in 1987, and got showered with bottles if i recall), was how fantastic a concept album it was in the summer of 1991. Some knobhead who was about 9 at the time surely wouldnt understand it now, out of context, and out of its time.

I have my own mind, as such I never listen to what critics say. Thankfully I've seen many great films and listened to some fantastic albums, despite poor reviews.

cos the gig is miles away. There's a great pub that serves Thai food nearby. We all went there for the Chems at the same place.

Can I just check - the first night announced was for the Saturday (27th Nov) and the Friday was only added for demand? Or is it the other way around? I'm pretty sure we're booked in for the Saturday but need to book my hotel and can't get hold of the person who booked.

I think the Saturday was the first one announced, which sold out in five minutes ish. Can't remember what ticket i have through 'Nicketmaster'.

Confirmed! Saturday - phew. Booked train tickets £22 each return - bargain (cheers Jerter) and hotel in Earls Court. Top one, nice one, sorted.

Screamadelica is SOOOOOOOOOO bloody overrated.

Primal Scream have done far far better - like the blistering trilogy Vanishing Point / Xtrmntr / Evil Heat. Those three albums show the band at the height of their powers. They've really done nothing of worth since....

That wasn't billed as Screamadelica, so I'm not sure if it'll be the same.
