The Charlatans reissue "Some Friendly" and to play in full live

The Charlatans are set to reissue their 1990 debut album 'Some Friendly' with a bonus disc of rarities on May 17.

The album will feature a bonus disc boasting tracks from BBC John Peel and Mark Goodier sessions plus rare mixes and singles. The album has been remastered with original vinyl sequencing.

The band are set to play the album live at the London Roundhouse on May 31 and at the Primavera Sound festival in Spain on May 29.

I loved that album. I remember reading an NME review of one of their gigs and the dipshit journo, while slagging off Tim Burgess as a 'lifeless' frontman, says something along the lines of 'even a member of the crowd continually asks him; 'you're not very well are you?'

"Opportunity". Best thing they ever did. Real late-period Talk Talk vibe to that one. Praise doesn't come much higher.

I remember 'Sporston Green' being my fav on the album when it came out

The soundtrack to my first few months at uni. Along with ,er, MC Tunes' 'The North At It's Heights'.

Opportunity and Sproston Green are the standout tracks. I had it on cassette but as I recall the vinyl didn't actually have 'The Only One I Know' on it??? On the cassette it was a 'bonus track' That was a very Factory-esque decision by the record company. Leave your big breakthrough single off the debut album.

Stopped listening to them after that album with 'Weirdo' on it. Never heard anything by them since that's floated my boat. Fair play to them for lasting the distance though.

Their most recent album is very good and they're still a great live act.

Tim Burgess has hair like an old woman though.
