Can anyone recommend a free (or nearly free) download. I want to be able to do a job lot at once rather than one at a time. Cheers.

Do you mean MP3 to AAC (MP4)? I think iTunes can do it if you use an iPod or iPhone. Even if you don't have one you can still download it for nowt. Just open up the program, select the MP3s you want convert, go to "Advanced" and select "Create AAC Version" and it should create the new files.

I think you can change the quality of the output AACs by going to Edit > Preferences > General tab > Import Settings. Change the drop down box to "Custom" and choose what the bit rate etc. Tried it on a few random MP3s and it worked fine for me.

search for "batch audio convertor" there is something out there with a name like that that will do it for you. Else, wavelab has a great batch processing capability.

You should make sure you really need to do this as you will lose a small amount of quality (the mp3 will need to be decoded then re-encoded as AAC, both are lossy codecs).

Easiest to use that will batch convert and is completely free is:

Quick Media Converter (QMC)

Converts between various audio and video formats. :thumb:
