What in your humble opinion was the most disappointing lp you ever blew $15-35 dollars on? Not talking so much about the worst album, just which ones, when push came to shove, came far short of your expectations? Failed to deliver the goods? Bring you to your knees in orgasmatic fits of pleasure?....erm, you get the idea. Anywho, my nominee is:
Standing on The Shoulders of Giants by OASIS!
Coming off their fairly acceptable Be Here Now, which at least had the decency to have some great songs, Standing felt like an operation to remove a persistant tumor in your stomach with no knock-out gas. By and far the worst Oasis album, it served to ruin me on any further Oasis releases and did nothing to promote Liam's potential songwriting ability. 'Little James' is the equivalent of tear gas released on an unsuspecting populace in summertime, and the cold sting of nuclear winter that is Liam's lyrics does little to nullify the sickening feeling. 'Fucking in The Bushes' is the most compelling tune because it is bereft of lyrics (something Noel should be commended for). If anyone feels I'm being too harsh, just pick up the album yourself and watch as your faith in the power of the human spirit is tested by Liam's off-key ally cat singing and the sub-Who and Beatles riffs that permeate this godawful tripe. Be advised, however: You will never want to hear any Oasis music ever again in you life.
