i dunno... I spose Andy Roddick has a puncher's chance of winning Wimbledon. Can't think of any other major sporting World sporting tournaments the US is likely to win in the very near future.

Well, there's not much to speak of in the way of major world sporting events in the very near future.

Baseball's on, but the World Series won't be for a few more months yet.

Football doesn't even start until the fall, and it's still a long way off until the Super Bowl.

All true. Must be awful having to wait until the World Series to whop all the other countries playing in it. I'm surprised they haven't extended it to other planets and called it the Universe Series.

Well you most definitely are at baseball, kicking all those other countries asses year after year, every since the inception of the World Series.

a momentous achievement. especially doing it year after year.

We are world champions of the short form of cricket. And i can report that there were at least ten other countries involved, which i know doesn't compare to baseball.:(

That is the event I'm looking forward to, can't stand football, and we have a much better chance of coming in the top three in that.

Yep, you have top competitors like Bradley Wiggins, and even Mark Cavendish- "the fastest man on the planet"-- if you want to include a Manx cyclist, and yet they just don't seem to get the recognition and support they deserve in the UK.

In three weeks, the fastest sprinters on Earth will be eating Mark Cavendish's dust, and you lot will still be focused on the team that held us Yanks to a tie...

I won't be, but your right, and it's not just cycling, when Ellen MacArthur became the fastest woman to sail around the world single handedly most of the press ignored it, the ones that didn't just said she's a lesbian anyway the french gave her a better welcome than us

For me Cavo got a bit too much coverage last year, it's strange how our media works, Cavo lives in the isle of man which is classed as the north west and Wiggo lives in Chorley, agan the north west, but the north west news only ever mentioned Cavo, despite Wiggo getting the joint highest position of an Englishman in the TDF, but he'll do better this year.

I can't stand people who like watching motorsport car crashes, as of the life-threatening nature of those accidents, but I can't help but chuckle when the peleton crashes and takes out 30-50 cyclists at a time!

FAR more likely to get killed or mangled in that sort of accident than in a motor racing incident these days.

has anyone else noticed how the number of flags on cars has reduced overnight?

yesterday it was about 1/4 of cars had a flag, today 1/20, and these are the people that were claiming they were patriotic last week! it's a good job people didn't behave like that durng the second world war! "You've not won two battles, Churchills a pratt and you're a worthless bunch of loosers"
