That Delphic Album....

....proves my long held assertion that if you like an album on first listen it's probably not very good. I've found this to be the case with so many albums. Buy it, spin it, think ' this is really good', play it for about a month, never play it again.

I keep lifting the Delphic box and thinking 'nah, can't be bothered with that'. Even took it into the car and still couldn't be arsed putting it on.

Great albums tend to be ones you don't get the first time around. Doves 'Lost Souls' was ditched after a few spins and I didn't revisit it for months. Adore it now. The last Editors album left me scratching my head til about a month down the line when I realised it was genius, best thing they've ever done. Ditto Memory Tapes debut album.

Don't rate em. I just don't rate em.Much better, original and inventive music about.

The music is extraordinarily ordinary and the vocals do nothing for me whatsoever.And they've got a crap name.

You're so right. Loved it at first, but now, every time it comes on the Ipod, I skip the track.

I still listen to some tracks though a lot have worn thin, i keep spottng subtle similarities with NO tracks, ie intro to submission at 17 secs sounds like RIAD k klass mix intro and outro of Acolyte sounds a bit like the intro to BL's sink or swim, would merge into it nicely.

I think Fradders at the time reviewed it as a lovely bubblegum pop/techno album for the Summer, and likened it to Friendly Fires, as in it would be good for a couple of months.

Surely you lot didn't expect depth from a techno/pop debutante outfit, did ya?

The jury is out til that difficult second album.

my fave tune of the album is RED LIGHTS

I'm still playin' Friendly Fires 18 months down the line. A lot of substance to that record. And they're great live. Can't see any similarities in FF's sound and Delphic's.

He's gonna be MAHOOSIVE (remixed the last Kylie single). Look out for Starsmith's debut in the next 3 months too. He produced Ellie Goulding and did that Lady Gaga remix.

I agree, got this album, got excited so went to a gig, stayed excited for about a week and now can't bring myself to play it again.

Please can someone send me some new decent music for my happy hols!

Sorry to anyone who likes them...but I think they're extremely overrated, and the fact that a lot of media have dubbed them 'the new New Order' has turned me off completely.

I've looked for their songs on YouTube to get an idea of what they sounded like, and their sound did nothing for me.

It's not as sh** as the latest Editors album. But it's true - I don't listen to it anymore, too. Well I never loved it extremely, but I always thought it was a nice one.

I still think it will be one of the best album this year. Great debut, fine music to listen, but, I agree, it is a bit boring in long term. cheeers

i didn't think they were much cop live either. some great singles, but that's it really...

have lots of albums i liked first time & still do, but most of those have more depth than this so not sure that theory entirely holds, but growers tend to become favourite records more often than immediate ones

Cheers for that. It sounds a cracking album It also features a sample of 'Bizarre Love Triangle' on the track 'Friday Night at Geek Club'.

on the subject of what album lasts longer.. i liked The XX album straight away when it came out.then it wore off and i still hate that vcr track. i love some of the album again now,maybe the album has got a second wind thing going on ?
so whats happening there ? :D back on topic,i dont play delphic anymore.
