New Order tribute-slash-ripoff band

So, I dared my kids to watch the first 10 minutes of "Fred: The Movie" (featuring Pixie Lott!) with me. In any case, the song playing over the opening credits sounded a lot like Age of Consent. And then the hi-hats and bass kicked in and it sounded exactly like Age of Consent... like when the ad agency says, "Get me as close to Hit Song X as you can without getting sued."

I finally tracked down the band: Lights On. Check out their home page, which currently features a song called "We Live Underground," and see if that doesn't remind you of something.

(The Age of Consent ripoff is called "Waiting for the Heart to Beat"... which I can't find online and isn't featured on their EP, "Waiting for the Heart to Beat.")

Check 'em out. I'm curious what anyone else thinks: carefully crafted tribute or too close for comfort?

I think that's fairly indisputable. However, I'm a firm believer that if you transpose any song into that fucking awful identikit American "pop-punk" format it simply becomes sub-music.
