Thought I'd heard new album was in the process of being mixed. This is the single from it, 'Ace of hz' released November 30.

I got the distinct feeling they were going tcome back with a completely new sound and look...... perhaps a bit like Evanescence or Slipknot.

Definitely Black Metal Goth Electro!!!!

I saw The Orb at The Forum, Kentish Town in 1995, around the time of the Orbus Terrarum album. An all nighter.Very messy by about 4am and my brother and a mate asked me what time The Orb were coming on -they'd finished their set about 2 hours before:laugh: Mind you they did have a point, think Paterson was DJing before The Orb's set and it did kind of all merge into one

Not sure on first listen.. wanted something more 'bangin'..

and whilst I'm on the subject, I'm using this opportunity to put up this performance of Soft Power from 2007:

always the best song in their live sets.

Hmm.. Only listened the once. Sounds kind of different for them on first listen. Kind of insistent in a restrained way.

Finally got round to giving the the new(ish) album a listen in full. Not bowled over which i'm very dissapointed to say. Too much filler. Maybe 4 or 5 good songs but the rest... yeah a bit filler material on first few listens .Velocifero was much better

:(

Still think they'd be great live though which i'm still hoping sometime to witness

I saw them once as opener for the Nine Inch Nails. They were pretty good, what made me buy their album.

Here we go, Mirage vid is finally out. Seems to have been a long wait

The new album is good but I'm not sure it's breaking any new ground or beating any of their previous work. The Ladytron "sound" bar adding more of a band feel as they did on Witching Hour remains pretty identical between albums. Mirage is a great single though... Little Black Angel off the Best Of last year was a good tune as well but I don't think they originally wrote it.

It will take a lot for it to beat or even match Light & Magic or Witching Hour for me which are my two favourite Ladytron records. That said, I might think differently after a few more months listening. The other LPs I've found a bit middling with only three or four standout tracks and the remainder being a bit "filler-ey".

Great band though, haven't caught them live yet which I'd like to rectify next year. The live tracks on the album reissues sound pretty good.

THE Nine Inch Nails????????

Now COME ON!!..... of all the bands for whom adding the definitive article is least appropriate......

I didn't call them "The NIN". It was just an article like: I saw "the Simple Minds" - which doesn't make them "The Simple Minds"... I'm non-englisch. My school grammar wouldn't allow me to say "I saw them as opener for Nine Inch Nails."

Sorry!!! :)

Me just being pedantic as usual!

And I should not be pedantic to a valued fellow NOOL forumer like yourself - please forgive my pignorance (but I think I sometimes drink too much at night and start writing garbage on the forums! ha ha ha!)

But then, we should maybe start adding "THE" to bands who ARE starting to piss us off - like THE Hooky & The Light

and

THE Bad Lieutenants (featuring Gillian and [The Rest Of] The New Order)
