Sorry if somebody else has already noticed this, but a Finnish producer called Michael Cassette has a new album out tomorrow, which includes the best cover of Jan Hammer's 1987 instrumental monster Crockette's Theme that I've heard to date.

I don't know whether you mean: "Not another Eric Prydz-style one chord phrase nightmare", but I think Cassette has just about got the balance between dance/commercial viability and artistic soul right here.

Yes, the likes of Sash! in the late '90s started an unwelcome trend of using one chord phrase and looping it a couple of times without going anywhere - a trend that Prydz and Junior Jack (among others) have unfortunately revisited in recent years. Michael Cassette has been guilty of this himself with some of his tracks, but at least he's bothered to use the verse chords in the middle of the track here.

PS: Burt, I appreciate disappointed posts. Whether right or wrong, at least you're being honest. It's those obsessive friendship ones that we need to keep our distance from.

People have covered Jan Hammer's Miami Vice stuff already?! I don't remember the tune - must have been on the show after they blew up the original ferrari - went down hill after that

The original is great stuff, the cover just plain sucks.
