......drive/ride.

I've always found it interesting what kind of transport people choose for themselves. Some see the vehicle they own as a reflection of themselves and some people own their vehicles for purposes of utility and transport.

I drive a Ford F-150 (a pick-up; kind of like a small, open bed lorrie, however, much more comfortable and with better road manners. I race mine in RallyCross events). The wife rolls in a Ford Explorer.

What say y'all?

Have a helladope day! :D

Gary Fisher Bicycle or Gravis Sneakers. when it rains I take the bus.

cars + me = accident waiting to happen

Cars are choking Seattle. America needs to get with the program and start building a decent rail system like Europe. But we wont because we are lazy, fat, ego-centric ASSHOLES who have to drive HUGE SUV's. Thank you for ruining the air I breathe.

Bacon Lettuce Tomato.

I think you can pretty much go anywhere in this country on AMTRAK.

And more to your point, if we built a EuroRail system, would anyone use it?

As for your blanket indictment of most Americans, I will cheerfully exclude myself and %95 of my friends and family. I'm not sure who you're hanging out with in the Emerald City, but maybe you need a new crowd. Bro', relax and go have a burger at Dick's. :happytongue:

Late,

Michael

What model bike do you have? The Gary Fisher Sugar is my dream bike though the £2500.00 price tag is a bit much to justify.

Hmmm....cars....

I drive a Mercury Cougar...quite impractical for anything other than driving myself and one other person around...

Siobahn has a Jeep Liberty, which I think is one of the ugliest creations ever...

and getting to rail...I don't think that it's a practical service in the States...but I can tell you one thing...if Dallas had a public transit system like London's, I would gladly give up my car...no car payments, no insurance, no maintanance bills, no paying for gasoline (or petrol as you lot like to call it)...

is it really that bad??? remember...I only had to use it for a week...and it got me around very well...and if you were to come to Dallas and use ours, you would appreciate just how good yours is...or maybe you could just slap me upside the head and say "hey, dumbass, this is just as good as London"...I use public transportation when possible...but the selection here is awful!!! I have given up on trying to figure out the bus routes...and their is a rail line that runs into downtown, but I still have to drive a little ways to catch it, and it's really only useful when going to hocky matches!!!

I always bemoan the traffic in the northern part of Dallas, where certain areas seem to have traffic jams no matter what time of day it is...but the one day in Houston reminded me just how terrible it is down there...and I wasn't even driving...of course, you all know by now, I just like to piss and moan as often as I can!!!!

Think I said it in other threads.

I drive a Mazda Tribute LX/Sport 2001.

And thank to the fact that I lost my job in May, now it's something I have a lot of troubles paying ;)

Sure, there are people in worst situations in the world, so I won't cry. At least I have another job!

Geaux, you cannot build a european style rail system in America because it would be impractical and hugely expensive to build in the high spread low rise american cities. Here in Barcelona as in most parts of Spain and Europe we can afford not to own a car because for historical reasons we have chosen to live in "compact" cities with many tall buildings. I, for instance, live in an eighth floor and as a result I have four different supermarkets, a multiplex, two gyms, a bakery, a convenience store and a newsagents within walking distance, I can walk to my job and to get to the city centre I can take the clean, cheap and safe underground service. I do not need a car. In America as in most parts of England you choose to live in houses. An underground or even metro link it's simply out of the question then. People drive there out of necessity not out of choice.

So do not be too harsh on them poor conmuters!

Having said that...Beam me up Scottie!! :alien:
