Hi everyone, I might be in a couple of days in Manchester. I was wondering if some of you guys had a couple of good local record (cd and lp) stores worth checking out. Thanks in advance :-)

Vinyl Revival, 5 Hilton Street, Manchester, M4 1LP; [great record shop with some Factory specialities including T-shirts]
Vinyl Exchange, 18 Oldham Street, Manchester [second hand shop]
Piccadilly Records, Smithfield Buildings, 51 Oldham St [new and used records]
FOPP on Brown Street is by far the best place for mega cheap new CD and DVD deals (many are just £3 in price).
I find it impossible to go there without coming out with at least half a dozen purchases.
Get there while you can, because there is every chance that if HMV are in trouble as alleged, this shop might be another candidate for closure.
Yeah but he's not really going to get any rare older stuff in Fopp.
As Mick said if you're after a place that would flog older items such as older JD/NO and related vinyl or promo CDs check out Vinyl Exchange on Oldham street. You could easily kill an hour in their sifting through all the racks and they have a large selection of New Order items. Pretty reasonable prices and a good selection. I always visit them when I'm in Manchester and order regularly from the web site when I'm not.
It would be worthwhile setting aside a good few hours to wander round the Northern Quarter in full; lots of interesting bars, cafes and record shops in that area.

It's 36C right now where I live.
Well, between late April and early August really just like the rest of the UK. But at the moment we've had pretty much the worst July in a few years (in London, anyway) pissing with rain and grey skies. It's a balmy 18-23c which is not bad though...

Is it rare collectible stuff you are searching for? If it is, then the afore-recommended Vinyl Exchange and Vinyl Revival are the best city centre bets. Outside of the city centre, in sunny Chorlton, you will find KINGBEE records - a very famous shop with a very notable clientele.
If it's brand new cheap back catalogue titles, then FOPP is still your man.

Piccadilly Records, I now find quite overpriced actually.
