i was about 15ish and my dad used to have a big barrel of scrumpy cider in his shed me and a mate got some of his dads home brew and made snakebites and got in a right state.. ended up collapsing in shed and throwing up

1 This is in my top 3 JD songs along with 24 Hours and The Eternal, the lyrics, the sound and most definitely the bass. Songs very rarely take me on an emotional ride, but this is definitely one of them. Ian's lyrics are definitely daunting, and on this record specifically the loaded gun bit always touches a nerve. Hooky's bass hits you like a tank, and the production of this record is absolutely superb!
2 I'll go along with the end as well, and maybe to be a bit contreversial, I'd really love to hear New Order do it (without Moby) I think the Barnster would give a great version of this if he done it without the whoop's:D
3 As I've said already, it's so emotional, whenever I'm in a bad mood (which is a pretty regular thing
) I love to shove Joy Division on the record player, fer some strange reason, the music and the lyrics always act as a pick me up

5 Me and my cousin Steve were 15 and 14 (respectively) we had around 8 quid to spend, and we talked one of my best pals Connie into buying us 8 cans of Tennants Super
For those outside Britain this stuff is 12% alcohol in a can and could strip an engine in 30 seconds We were absolutely hammered after 3 cans, but somehow managed to finish the stuff....how the fuck we got home in one piece is still a miracle, dunno how many times we both fell over.
Got back to my mam and dad's (where they were both still up) and we had to walk in and pretend we were sober Steve locked himself in our downstairs bog for a good 45 minutes, my dad told me to get a bucket for "The Jessie" and we went up to my room, where we were both sick another 5 or 10 times....he had the bucket, I just opened the bedroom window and was sick out of that In the morning my mam was hanging out the washing in the back garden and noticed sick all down the wall from my bedroom window....of course, I blamed it all on Steve and he had to wash the wall using a rather large brush (the kind you see witches on!) It's safe to say that neither of us has been anywhere near Tennants Super since:D

- the wailing and yelling at the end. don't get me wrong, ian sounds wonderful doing this song, he's got the voice and the passion to carry it. it's the cover versions done by amateurish vocalists (see moby) that ruins the whole thing.

I was 20, some buddies and me decided to celebrate my friend's 21st birthday. We got pretty plastered, I handled it fine but my buddy puked up the Mad Dog he finished the night off with. It was cool, the first time I got so drunk I couldn't stand on my own.....

I quite like the Moby / Order version as well, more for the fact the band are playing it again
1 Best Bit: A brilliant end to one of the best sides of an album; have to agree w/Shug on the lyrics. "Oh, I've walked on water, run through fire, Can't seem to feel it anymore" is something I find myself singing a lot of the time.
2 Worst Bit. None really.

5 How old were you when you first got totally hammered (and who bought you the alcohol) 16, and some older guys I worked with kindly bought some for us after an impromptu football game. We needed something to ease the pain, and boy did that help. (okay, it was fookin' Bud, but when yer that age, it sure as heck didn't matter).
