New order at British music experience

I went to the British music experience at the O2 (London) today. It was pretty good. Had a room dedicated to each decade of music fromthe 50's onwards.

I walked into the 80's room and blue Monday was playing. They also have costumes, instruments, lyric sheets, etc from artists. There was a fair bit re new order. A piece of hacienda flooring, technique album cover, an original emulator, blue Monday cover, Peter hooks 6 string bass. Plus original (?) lyrics to blue Monday handwritten on a piece of A4.

There were a few crossings out " how does it feel When you treat me like you do" with "when you" crossed out and replaced with "To"

Also had "those who came before me Live through their convictions"

The verses "I see a ship in a habour" and "and I thought I told you to leave me" were both written in different handwriting to the first lot of verses (and to each other).

I don't know if this was authentic but I'm guessing it must be to be in a museam.

A bit of geeky trivia, if it's true.

Eh....an emulator from early 80's and a dark red Sherman(?) 6 string bass.

There was a studioroom where u could play guitars, drums and lay vocals. But my screen wasn't working doh

I went to look around it a couple of years ago and the Order stuff is very interesting. Apart from the Emulator 1 - which I take it is the one they used on BM - there's the track listing sheet for BM itself, giving the recording date as being in October 1982, a good six months before it was released.

The Peter Saville 12" sleeve is also there. Saville said he had the inspiration to design it after visiting them as they were recording it and took away a 5" floppy with him. It's an interesting concept: BM being the software you load into your system and the sleeve resembling a floppy disc...well it was in 1983!

Apparently the Emulator was temperamental on-stage and wouldn't always load the discs. Gillian would whack it on the leg of its stand with a lump hammer which seemed to do the trick!

Why did it take so long to release?

I have the same question about Ceremony: they recorded it in September 1980 in New Jersey somewhere, but it was released only in March 1981, it's not the most complicated track to mix... Any reasons behind that?
