The news we get here blames an incompetent Italian court system that is corrupt and full of problems... that she is basically the victim of this mess and wasn't even anywhere near when the murder occurred...

Is your news discussing it different over there?

Our press is caught between arguing that she is a sexually active unmarried woman and therefore deserves to go to prison forever or, conversely, arguing that because she is American Ms Knox therefore deserves to be spanked harshly and locked up for a very long time.

Caught between the two, you mean like that?

What the news is saying here is that the knife that had her DNA on it was deemed inadmissible in court as it was a kitchen knife that the two roommates shared and could have DNA residue from simply living there. Also that they were nowhere near the crime scene when it happened.

Supposedly the Italian crime investigator used a similar story on another crime within three months of the Knox one, and it also was dropped, as it seemed to be his gut-instinct rather than based on evidence.

We are also hearing that the Italian system tends to quickly get things to court, without evidence being solid, and they expect that everything would be settled by the time of the appeal... leading to a large percentage of innocent people being convicted and released during appeals.

As with the Madeline McCann case in Portugal, when theres a British person involved, theres a tendency over here to portray police and justice systems as bumbling, corrupt, lazy bastards. Sweaty spic coppers etc.

As if our own systems have no such problems.

Did you know you can rape a child over here and get just 4 years? Or kill someone through drink-driving and get 18 months?

British Justice; showing Johnny Foreigner the way.

What was that case back in the 90s, British girl who was a nanny for an American couple? She was accused of killing their baby? Case went on and on for ages:scratch: Can't recall now if she was found guilty or not. Dumpy, plain looking 18 year old....

One of my co-workers is a dead ringer for Foxy Knoxy, though her hair is blonder. Seriously. Looks just like her.

And sorry lads, she has a live-in boyfriend.
