Since the thread to discuss new-ish albums has attracted at least one post partly about old albums I'll start the thread about old albums I intended to start at the same time but didn't get round to starting. If you want to recommend an old album (i.e. first released before the start of 2002) that you've liked for a long time or have bought recently because it's been remastered, because it's been reduced to mid-price or because you got it cheap in a sale recommend it to your fellow NOOLers. It doesn't matter if it is an album that was raved about and sold by the lorryful when it was released or if it is an album that never got the recognition it deserved. However, if you recommend an album by an act that most posters are unlikely to have heard of it may be a good idea to tell people that they are like an act that they are more likely to have heard (i.e. if you like famous band X you'll might like not-so-famous band Y). If you want to advise people not to buy a particular album or to disagree with another poster you can also do that but bear in mind that perhaps the best way to damn a bad album is to let it be forgotten. If you have heard or read about an album but want to get a second opinion on it before buying it post a message asking if anyone has heard it and hopefully someone will have heard it and will tell you what they think of it. Most record shops stock thousands of albums, some stock tens of thousands and Internet retailers can get hold of even more so please help your fellow NOOLers find the ones they will like and avoid the ones they won't like.
