i didn't hear the joy division resemblence really, but i can see how some people can compare them to JD. i think they've got more in common with "and you will know us by the trail of the dead"
but personally, i think the singer sounds like Gord Downy (is that his name?) from the tragically hip. i've only heard one song and i'd recommend them.
they're from new york and they are on my favorite record label, matador. i swear, matador is THE american record label and there are a couple of interpol songs you can download to see for yourself if they really are the "american joy division" some people are claiming.
