long forgotten factory band and by god, they sound so much like joy division, it's not funny. i heard them on the radio and they mentioned that at one time, this band was actually produced by a couple of members of joy division.

i don't own anything from them. i just have them on tape...just this one song. i taped this song a year ago and i was listening to thinking it could have been joy division. but the host said it was by a group called section 25 and he gave me the details of the band. i'm surprised that no one here really mentions them.

No, but Bernard Sumner did.
Actually, Ian Curtis and Rob Gretton produced three tracks at Cargo Studios for Section 25: "Girls Don't Count", "Knew Noise" and "Up to You". This was the first Section 25 single, released in July 1980 with Factory number FAC 18. These songs are bonus tracks in their first album "Always Now" re-released by Les Temps Moderns.
In fact Les Temps Moderns released all Section 25 albums in CD format. They sound like a raw Joy Division in the first two albums "Always Now" (1981) and "The Key of Dreams" (1982). "From The Hip" (1984) is a turning point to a electronic oriented music. Produced by Bernard Sumner this album features magnificent tracks like "Looking From a Hilltop" and "Inspiration". Produced by the band themselves "Love and Hate" (1988) is another good album. "Deus Ex Machina" is a compilation of live tracks and demos between 1983 and 1985. "Illuminus Illumina" is a CD of early material plus 1980-1981 jams and early live recordings. There are also live albums like "Live In America & Europe 1982" and "From The Hip In The Flesh", a live recording from the band's North American tour in January and February 1985.

In fact, that random sounding jam oft referred to as "Gimme Your Heart" that Joy Division played at Erics in 1979 is a pretty shoddy cover of "Dirty Disco" by Section 25.
