What does everyone think about this nutter(ess) on the killing spree in America? Fuckin mental innit, is that 7 or 8 dead at the moment? :nonono:

We were talking about it in the pub last night, apparently all the shootings are random, people filling up their car, kids walking to school.....this person is a madcase. The question is how many people are gonna die?

Was reading Shaun Ryder's column in the Daily Perv the day, and apparently there's a Bookie in Nevada giving odds on how many people will die before the person is caught :nonono: according to the column the bookie is offering 500-1 on 25 or more dead....just how sick can you get?

Just seems to me, there's more nutters in America than anywhere else, serial killers trying to out-do each other. And this one certainly has done their homework, how the fuck do you go about profiling this kinda thing??

As for nutjobs, that's the price we pay for what few liberties we have left. I'd like to thank Chuck Heston and the NRA for making this happen. At any rate, I hope the fucker's caught.

Seems to be getting pretty brazen in his attempts; hopefully that means he'll get a bit overly confident and slip up somewhere.

It's gotta be quite unnerving living in the VA area now, and seeing how big community events like high school football are being postponed while this is going on.

It's kinda freaky. I'm not too far from DC. I work in a suburb between DC and Baltimore. One of the shootings happened in my Hometown Manassas Virginia. People are kinda freaked out here.

What's scary is, he's not targeting one specific group, like a rascist gunman might. It's just random people going about their ordinary business. And after all the news reports about "a white van" being suspected, I wouldn't be surprised if the guy (or gal) had changed vehicles by now. I was a little rash, sorry. However badly the cable nets are using this for ratings, it helps keep it in the public's mind, which hopefully means someone'll ID the bastard and lead to their arrest.

Blaming Charlton Heston and the NRA for these horrible murders is like blaming Gloria Stienem and N.O.W. for the one million (+) unborn babies that are murdered each year in this country.

While we may be diametrically opposed to the NRA's (you) and NOW's (me) positions, it really does boil down to personal "choice" (so to speak) and responsibility, doesn't it?

Again, another cheap shot. Sometimes I'm too liberal for my own good.

To be fair, those who have guns who use them RESPONSIBLY (i.e. don't commit crimes with them) should certainly have their guns. But more should be done to enforce the Brady laws, and the NRA has seemed to pop up every time in opposition to it. There's a certin degree of irresponsibility on their part for holding up enforcement.

Of course, the real problem is the Brady bill is only effective if the person using the gun has a criminal record. I heard on the news where Chuck Schumer suggested the gun manufacturers should fire off a round for each gun, so that that round could be sent to a national inventory for tracking in case the gun was used in the commition of a crime. Sounds good to me :violent:

the problem with the sniper is that he is targeting random people...when we all know some are more deserving of a well placed bullit...and not out of his driving range...i could name several right here some smaller than trees but bigger than shrubs....others selling religion on television....now a sniper with an agenda is a good story, this random shit is scary...

I would agree, for the most part, with the senior senator from New York. However, it always bugs me to be made hand over personal information to the government. I guess that's the libertarian in me coming out.

I can see where concern over privacy would be an issue, but if we could track the bullets to the gun, that would lead to the sniper and we'd all breath a sigh of relief. As opposed to surrendering private rights in the face of terror as I am (what with the current climate of intolerance in our country), I could see where this would be in handy. I can assure you it probably won't pass, however, if ever drawn up into law. Both parties would have some reason to oppose it (Dems over privacy, Reps over gun rights)

going back to charlton heston for a minute...

a few years ago i was working as an extra on one of his films in israel. he walked past me as i was smoking a cigarette. now, mr. heston, besides being president of the NRA, is also a well known anti-smoking campaigner. anyway, as he walked by me once i smiled at him and said 'hello mr. heston.' he looked at my cigarette, looked up at me...and growled. i felt like paraphrasing one of the NRA's favourite sayings: 'mr. heston, cigarettes don't kill, people do.'

after all, cigarettes can't light themselves, can they?

I had to laugh reading Gore Vidal's memoirs describing Ben Hur, during which his veiled homosexual referances to Ben Hur's character went completely over Chuck Heston's head.

Nevertheless, as someone who remembers when he hosted Saturday Night Live and was in a skit as a deranged 60-yr old stock boy at the grocery store, I have nothing against the man personally. He's just wrong, that's all.....

Another victim.

I'm getting surprised the person who sold the killer the weapon and bullets didn't call in to cash the prize yet.. which let me assume either he's stupid and is willing to let a person continue to kill innocent people, or this is truly an act of terrorism.. if there is really 2 people like they have said, then even if people don't want to admit it, it's smelling funny.

With all the recent attacks this week, on the French ship, the soldiers in Kuwait and that HORRIBLE explosion in Bali, something is happening, it might not have the same impact than the WTC incident (even the terrorists weren't probably expecting it to collapse), but it's seriously doing its job...

Just this week my girlfriend and I were checking a brochure of Bali for our honeymoon, let's just say we changed our minds, most attacks are aimed at tourists, that sure don't help much.. and now, random victim chosing...

Let's just say something is going on, and I just hope this will be over soon, and not to start any flaming war here, but attacking Iraq is not going to solve anything...

Any, and I must say, ALL international TV stations are showing there is nothing there, and the interest is mostly for the black oil, and not terrorism, so putting all this part of the world angry is not going to solve any problem...!

But I'm no expert, I'm just a simple man!
