Guess you have to have grown up in Britain and are able to relate to stories about days at the seaside in the company of your Mother's eccentric relatives and friends. A peculiarly unique British existence and experience.Would never have wanted or done it any other way.

his 'letters home' is one of my favourite books - or at least it was six or seven years ago. i should revisit it and see what i think now...

he reminds me of morrissey - gay privileged men wistful for a place they were quick enough to leave behind, and perhaps largely existed in their mind anyway.

Bennett's up all night for good fun.He's up all night to get lucky.He likes a party, the mischievous lad .Rumour has it he attended many a New Order gig in the 80s, stomping around giving it mayhem in the moshpit.What a rascal.

i sat behind alan bennett on the train once. leeds to london. i texted everyone i knew to tell them.

OH! and i've just remembered something wonderful he once said in an interview that i've never been able to find again.

"those who are good at saying what they mean are not always the best at meaning what they say."

or words to that effect.

I rarely seem to see famous people on trains Only time I can think of was, I swear, sitting across from me once was the actress who was Dr Who's assistant , Amy Pond. I'm sure it was her. It was on the train over to Birmingham for New Order's gig at the Ballroom in April 2012.

And i definitely saw Colin Torr at New Order at Jodrell this summer.He's quite famous.

Which reminds me, i once had an argument with someone about when "this summer" becomes "last summer" It's a funny one. I argued it becomes "last summer" on New Year's Day but this guy argued it is still "this summer" until the start of the next summer.

as for this / last summer, it would be subjective as to which tense you are / were talking in. English "english" is such a fantastic language.
