Actually, I've read here some good things about the Pixies, but it's a group I don't know anything about..
I was watching Fight Club for the I don't know how many times, and I've always liked the end credit song, I did a little search, and found it's a song from the Pixies, Where Is My Mind.. which I quite like.
Anyone knows any good songs a New Order fan can enjoy?

My cousin would be a better source of info on the Pixies, but I can atleast offer up this tidbit: "Here Comes Your Man" (with a bizarro video) is an excellant song. I have been tempted to pick up some of their stuff, but as yet have not.
The best starting point for the Pixies is probably 'Death To The Pixies', a compliation with all the classic songs: Debaser, Monkey Gone To Heaven, Wave Of Mutilation, Where Is My Mind, Gigantic, Velouria. All great songs: loud guitars/brilliant melodies/weird lyrics. They only made 4 studio albums (and one EP) between 1987 and 1991. Best albums IMO are Surfer Rosa and Doolittle.

Last Pixies gig ever in London was at the Academy same night as Flaaaaaaard Up played the Fridge.
The latter won through for me, but then who knew it was gonna be the last Pixies gig in London, eh?

agree that surfer rosa (get the cd & you get c'mon pilgrim thrown in) & doolittle were best albums, they have quite a few compilations now, death to the pixies, pixies at the bbc, pixies b sides.

In hindsight, perhaps should've seen the Pixies, but FU were very much a band of their time. Had some excellent times at their gigs. Very shambolic, bit like the early Mondays.
Debaser vs Doris? Tuff choice.

my favourite song: wave of mutilation. without a doubt.

Last Pixies gig ever in Glasgow was (obviously) on the same tour at the SECC. The crush barriers at the front collapsed during the second number and the gig was stopped with promises of it being "re-scheduled" later in that tour.
Still got me ticket stub. Still living in hope!
Saw them at Hanley in 1990. After decent support from Barkmarket, Cecilia Ann started playing behind the curtain with no band on stage ! The curtain lifted and they went straight into Levitate Me, Debaser, Hang Wire and just about every song they'd written ! Fantastic entertainment, packed house, excellent sound. One of the best gigs I've ever seen.
Last seen and thoroughly enjoyed at Manchester G-Mex in 1991 - where they aired a few future bruisers from the mighty "Trompe Le Monde" album.

Only time I saw them was their last concert in Holland in July 1991, 'Rock Music' was a great opener. Three days before I saw James Brown in concert...interesting week :) Did anyone catch the chainsmoking Deal twins on their recent tour? Very entertaining.

fast version. kinda surfer-like, that one.
last time i saw them was on the trompe le monde tour, at the gloucester leisure centre. v cool the way they reworked a lot of the songs with the more surfy sound.
1st time was as a suport band in birmingham burberries night club, stage was in the middle of the floor, not raised at all & you could go round the back behind them & run through where they were to smack into the crowd at the front - awesome!
throwing muses were headlining, so in same venue we had kim deal & then tanya donelly! brilliant
