Is it true that in Scotland IRN BRU runs from every tap? and if so what flavour is IRN BRU going for? Is it Orange or is it just that popular sugar/cough syrup flavour? I lean towards the sugar side but I'm always tricked into thinking it should taste Orange-y. yeah. odd post, sorry.
Is it True?

yes its true, they have a third tap*, but its the traditional girder falvour only.
*the odd posh place has a weird mixer tap combining hot & cold water & irn bru
to my taste buds, irn bru tastes exactly like bubble gum. and your teeth rot out of your mouth about five seconds after you finish the can or glass.
but in my opinion thats the beauty of IRN BRU. its a questionable beverage but tastes great when *really* cold.
can't say that i'm a big fan of the sickly-sweet bubble gum taste. a bit too much for me.
whether or not they still pour the drink over iron girders before bottling, i don't know. only in scotland, only in scotland. :D
in Scotland doesn't it actually contain Iron? or is this just an old wives tale..meh. anyways I don't know what is with me and food lately but are donairs an inherently North American thing? I don't know anyone that should live without two week old beef loaf. The food of tomorrow, today!
can't say i've ever heard of donairs either. sound scary. ![]()
do you get irn bru in alberta? i've never actually seen the stuff outside of scotland. (maybe once or twice in england, but that's it)
my, it's late. nighty night.
I guess donairs are a Canadiana thing. its just beef(i think..its pretty suspicious) pressed onto a round that is rotated until they shave it and put it on a sub or pita. its pretty gross and the enusing 'donair breath,' is killer. but, uh, Irn Bru. I'm able to find it at a lovely place called 'Superstore,' which is just your regular bulk store(like a wal-mart, except more of an emphasis on food) that just happens to have copius amounts of Irn Bru. .I feel like such a nerd.

Grell, Donner Kebab is a Near/Middle East food, nothing to do with Canada. The Greek, Turkish, Libanese...all claim to have invented it. In Europe you can find it in ethnic restaurants in all the major cities and in England is the unavoidable ending of a good night out, usually eaten out of a van at three in the morning with the spicest, hotest sauce possible. You can even buy it frozen in most British supermarkets. Glendale's Donner Kebab being the best of the lot.

Great for a hangover. It's got a unique taste all of it's own and tastes nowt like oranges!
In 1992 I climbed a big fuck-off mountain in the High Tatras on the Czech and Polish border. We later found there was actually a road which took you right to the top as it was a ski resort. Anyhow, at the top was a wee kiosk selling....Irn Bru!
This might not sound that impressive to anyone but to three 19 year old Glaswegians spending a summer in small town Eastern Europe and being pretty freaked out by the whole experience it was a nice wee reminder of home.
I would love to send you all a case of Big Red. Purely a Texas thing, although I was able to get it when I lived in Panama for some strange reason. Pure sugar I tell ya. A strawberry flavored concotion, it gets you hooked. Is best in cans cold straight out of the fridge. Actually beats Moutain Dew in terms of sugar content. Scary huh? Would send a case of cans if I didnt think theyd explode by the time they got there.
Oh, sorry, I knew it was Lebanese in origin but very few seem to know what it was. so I made a blanket assumption that it was most popular in canada. meh. nope, I'm still the nerd. ![]()
