I was reading Rolling Stone's end of the year double issue and Oasis' Heathen Chemistry was considered one of the ten biggest disappointments of the year. I didn't think the album was bad at all. Johnny Marr helped out with a couple tracks, right? What do you all think? Disappointment, or not.

Well, if the brothers can stop punching themselves, maybe they'll end up doing something good.
It seems the last Oasis album didn't make it this side of the Atlantic, I've heard nothing about it.. and I mean nothing.. I hope they will end up doing something great any day now, I'm still waiting for something near the quality of Wonderwall, and it has not happened yet.
I think they just had a poor choice of title (Bowie released his "Heathen" at about the same time) and there was just no market for their stuff in the world of Nelly and.....Nelly (I can't think of any other rappers right now).
I personnally had no interest in purchasing the latest Gallagher opus, I thought they were fools to get rid of the original guitarist and bassist and "Standing on the Shoulders.." proved that to me, so this new one wasn't even on my list of things to buy as a Frisbee. I have no idea whether it was any good or not, but I doubt it.
as for overall whether Oasis is a disappointment, I think they really lost their way after the third album, and the Brit invasion of the mid-90s died out pretty early in the face of hip-hop but no one bothered to tell Noel about it.

Yeah. The truth is I didn't even buy the new album, I just burned a copy. Got caught up in the moment, it's a really sappy album. I can understand why rock fans would have been disappointed with some of the tracks. I'll be over Oasis soon. Ever since I started listening to all this Brit music, the only artists that've really stuck are New Order, the Smiths, and Robert Palmer (sort of). Maybe I'm just crazy.
I still don't like Noel Gallagher's attitude stating that there are no good American bands presently besides the Strokes. Arrogant rich A$$hole, has no idea what it's like to be a teen in America.
My wee brothers had this album about 3 months before it came out, and the little bastards had it on constantly......thus me growing to like it.
Several good songs on the album, and it's a lot better than Standing or Be Here. I nearly went to one of the live shows, and that's the first time I've wanted to do that since 95!

Noel Gallagher was quoted in the NME this year as saying the funniest site he could think of was "Geri Halliwell rummaging through George Michael's bins to find a bit of chocolate"
I think maybe even Liam may have learned something about starting fights with Italians
