I heard about this new show, "Man Vs. Beast" in which humans are pitted in athletic competitions against animals. Expecting out-and-out brutal hand-to-hand combat on a Roman gladiatorial scale, I was disappointed to see that basically humans and animals in competition against one another never came to blows. It aired at 9 last night on Fox (the network of Joe Millionaire) but I didn't get home til 9:30. I missed the hot-dog eating competition between a champion glutton and a bear and a sprinter racing not only a giraffe but a zebra as well. What I did catch, however, was a damnation on all of mankind...
The last event of the evening concerned pitting little people (dwarves) against an elephant. What, you ask, was the field of endeavor which pitted these longtime adversaries? PULLING AN AIRPLANE!
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the dwarves (40 of them) were tied to a massive harness, as was the elephant, and each had their own seperate airplane to pull. The little people almost pulled it out, but the rule was to pull the front wheel across the finish line, a feat the elephant accomplished with ease. It was truly a great moment for dwarf/elephantine atheleticsim.
Just when I thought "man, no TV show will ever answer the question of who can pull an airplane futher, midgets or an elephant," the brilliant minds at Fox did so. Thank you, Fox, and keep that coming!
Hopefully the next installment will test a blind man's driving ability against that of a panther.....
