that guy also hosted the odd and british 'robot wars.' which was the precursor to all those other robot fighting shows. did he have his rasta mullett at that point too?
the rasta mullet is only for Red Dwarf, they pin the locks on him for the series, i think i read they were real the first two seasons or so
we used to call all the scruffy, neglected kids at our school 'scutters' (after those little cleaning robots). weren't we hard... ![]()
Red Dwarf? Absolutely fookin magic stuff! I had been trying to reply to this thread fer ages, but the bastard wouldnae let me![]()
We have every series of this back at the flat, the theme tune sets you up nicely. I remember back to about 1994 when I had just finished a 2-10 shift, I'd get back and settle in front of the TV with 4 cans of Stella and a massive packet of crisps and watch the first few series again.
So many favourite episodes, but one that springs to mind is when Lister, Cat and Kryton try to sneak off to another planet to go fishing while Rimmer is sleeping, only for him to wake up and go mad
The Male Holly was also fookin brilliant, the bit at the start of the programme where he adds something amusing was always great.
Mining Ship Red Dwarf we've been stuck out ere for 3 million years, I now have an IQ of 3000, the same as 3,000 PE Teachers![]()

its a shame it isn't played much where i am anymore. pbs *does* on a rare moon play it, then i, get really excited call up friends, who are never impressed at all.
i think my favourite episode from a couple years ago was where there was planet completely inhabited by rimmer's. or the other(can't remember the plot) where lister thought this alien was an attractive female but in fact it was a huge hairy alien and they starting making out, it was ace..but what a vague description on part!
get the dvd's end of february series 1 and 2, it has a lot of deleted scens i hear, including rimmer giving himself a funeral!!!!!
My fave episode is "Gunmen of the apocalypse" from series 6. The bits when cat does that little dance every time he says "Riviera Kid" is hilarious. Also, when he shoots the cowboys bullets out of the air ![]()
... and when rimmer loses his powers and claps his hands to get out and it turns into a little dance... anyone who has seen it knows what i'm on about! ![]()
damn i have been waiting days to reply to this!!!, anyway gunmen is a classic episode, i personally love "better than life" all your fantasies can come true and rimmer dreams of having 7 kids, a nagging wife, a beatup car and a mortgage funny episode
Another classic is when Hol the computer pretends he has to be replaced by Queeg, who makes them clean the ship and get fit.....just as all of the guys are about to drop dead and tell Queeg they want the other Hol back, Hol reappears.....he played an April Fools Trick.![]()
Like Shugzy i got shit loadsa em on video, and there always good for a laugh when ya having a few beers or smoking ;)
One of my favourites is Quarantine - where Rimmer gets a virus and wears a red and white chequered dress and worships the potato people while locking the rest up in quarantine!!
Then Lister injects himself with a luck-virus and it somehow gets even funnier!!!
brilliant!!

Aye, class episode that one Bruv![]()
I'm gonna look out all the video's next week, and review them all on here, well, pick out the best bits.....ye's all know how lazy I am:D
![]()
The episode wher Lister teaches Kryton to lie and be sarcastic is also one of the funniest, poor ole Rimmer gets it both barrells![]()
Lister talking about losing his virginity on a golf course ("How did you have the nerve?" -- "It wasn't in the middle of the Ryder Cup or anything."), Marooned (Series 3).
L: She just took all her clothes off and stood in front of me completely naked. I was so excited I nearly dropped my skateboard. Rimmer: Skateboard??! How old were you? L: [reminisces, can't remember this line] R: How old were you?! L: Twelve. R: Twelve?! You lost your virginity when you were twelve?! [ponders] You can't have been a full member of the golf club then?

Twas Bootle Golf course. Scene of some of my more memorable shots. I think he said it was in bunker on a dog-leg hole(which wasn't a dog-leg hole, even before they switched the playing order circa 1992).
what series out there is everyone's favourite?
my vote goes for series 6. had many classics.
i like 3 the best, but i must say the first three series i could watch forever dvds coming out in the u.s. on the 25th of february series I and II, i have them pre-Ordered from amazon and i cannot wait

Aye, I'm with you on that, the first 3 series are fookin magic, although 6 is great as well. Still haven't found the time to start watching them again, but as my self imposed booze ban starts next week, I guess I'll be watching a lot more of The Dwarf.
I'd just like to add that the Scutters are a brilliant creation![]()
I got my series I & II dvds friday and have been watching them all weekend, oh they are great in their original un-remastered version, lots of deleted scenes and other extras you can even watch the first episode in japanese!!! anybody else get thease yet?

no way, thats ace! i just rented most of the second season and its *really* good. unfortunately i have no dvd player, so i'm searching for all the episodes on VHS.
"vindaloo"
btw, what happens with kryten? he appears in the second season and then dissapears 'till the third season..?
if you slow down the star wars esque sequence in the first episode of series III it tells you everything that they left hanging from series II but basically he crashes the space bike and a long while later the dwarfers find him and lister repairs him, and has some parts left over (this is why he has a different voice and apperance, well so they say)
I watched all of series' 3 & 6 last week, fuckin great stuff, Polymorph is a cracking episode an all, still haven't got round to doing a proper review series by series.....I'm a bit of a lazy bastard! My cousin Paddy also found another video last night "Smeg Ups" or something like that with deleted scenes and out-takes from the first few series, haven't got round to watching it yet.

I think Kryten's appearance in the second series - played, as you'll have noticed, by a different actor - was only intended to be a one-off. Just an episode idea rather than an idea to introduce a new character.
When it came round to series three, I think they felt they needed something to shake things up a bit with a new character, and so Kryten seemed like the most obvious option. His reappearance (and Holly's sex change) is explained in a Star Wars stylee rolling script at the start of the third series, which moves at a ridiculous pace so that the viewer doesn't have a chance to read it. So you need to do frame by frame on your VCR!
