Any fans of this great band from Scotland???

Ok, so it may not be so 'cool' to like them as the untouchable NewOrder but fuck it!! i think there music is great!!

I hadn't listened to them for god must be knocking on 10 years, at a party a couple of weeks ago i was chatting to someone who confessed to being a huge fan, i was like.. crikey thats a blast from the past!! anyway i dug out my old cassette tape (original mind!) of When The World Knows Your Name a few days later and blow me down if i didnt get that NO album experiance!! - there are NO FILLERS on this album, all great catchy tunes with some superb lyrics Ricky Ross has got a really strong voice as well which carries great on record.

So i picked up one of their greatest hits compilations and reminded myself of such greats as Loaded,Twist and Shout, Love and Regret, Wages Day, Fergus Sings the Blues, Real Gone Kid.. and many others.

Not forgetting the epic Dignity which is still as powerful as when i first heard it over 10 years ago. I'd love to hear Barney have a crack at singing that!!!!!!

So any other fans out there?? or if you hate them then why?! what the hells the matter with you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

as a former resident of the kingdom of fife, i can say that there are still quite a few deacon blue fans out there. my ex-boyfriend (in fife) has all of their albums (hidden on the bottom shelf, however), and i often heard their songs at karaoke nights (or so i was told), usually directly before, or directly after, the proclaimers. i couldn't name a single song by them, however, as we never got them on this side of the atlantic. only know them by name.

Has anyone ever asked you "Which band in the world do you hate the most?" It's atricky one but after much consideration I usually come up with the same answer....Deacon F***in' Blue!

Professional Glaswegian (despite the fact they're nearly all from Dundee!), white soul bollocks. Listening to Ricky Ross on a live broadcast from the SECC the year before Glasgow was to be the European City of Culture deliver this "impassioned", patronising and totally insincere speech about the town while his band of musos played on in the background was one of the most cringeworthy things I have ever heard.

No offence DoN but they really suck. Big time!

And another thing.......Barney singing "Dignity"?!!!!! No!!!!! The most despicable record by the most despicable band. An over sentimental song about a bin-man buying a boat and sailing it up the f***in' River Clyde!!!!God spare me, please.

Deacon Blue came from a group of bands who were all from Scotland, all played over-produced bland white soul and were all lumped together in the late 80's/early 90's. You can file them alongside Hue & Cry, Wet Wet Wet, Love & Money and The Kevin McDermott Orchestra. Every one of them utterly gash.

If you want to check out a totally ace band from Glasgow then buy the album "Hate" by The Delgados which came out last September. My album of 2002.

I stick by it, the first album was great, and the Real Gone Kid and Dignity singles still sound good today:nod:
