earlier today i had the lucky opportunity of purchasing Substance on vinyl for $10. but for some stupid reason i picked up a talk talk single instead, which is ok btw. substance definately won't be there next time. a steal i got recently was sea and cake-the fawn for $8.

anyone have any other bargain bin steals? maybe NO related etc.

About the only good thing that happened after the Rough Trade US record label went kaput in 91 or so was finding lots of the labels product at bargain prices in the bins, WITHOUT the usual cut-out marks (Steve Kilbey, Straitjacket Fits, Butthole Surfers, etc. for 4 dollars? Yes, thank you very much!~)

FAO Martin Fradley, if you're reading this: According to the Martian, I found a sealed copy of the Band Of Holy Joy's second album, Manic, Magic, Majestic for 4 dollars, and boy, is that a great album. He mentioned that you also shared an appreciation for them.

Don't know how Tower Records managed this one, but I bought a new copy of Husker Du's Zen Arcade for $2.99 as a new release from them.

Just a careless worker putting the wrong price sticker on the product. Also, I don't think SST had UPC codes on their product at the time, so if they scanned it, another price would come up.

revenge's one true passion on tape for 99 cents. i also got that same record on vinyl for 3.99. saw the cd, for 11.99 and i said, fuck that. there's something oddly shameful about buying the same record on three formats in one year.:o

Major said he behaved impeccably:nod:

Best bargain? Joy Division Substance CD £5 from a market stall, I had been searching for this on CD for fookin ages, and I really could not believ my luck when I picked it up brand new for a fiver.....bargaintastic indeedy. Mind you, if you were in Manchester at the time of the Hac closing down you could have got yer hands on the original Unknown Pleasures B-Side and an MDF table.....now that would have been a bargain:lol:

i do a lot of CD shopping on-line and i rarely pay more than 3 dollars for a new CD. they usually just have the little cut on the side of the jewel box, but they're wrapped. i've picked up sugar 'beaster' and a new FADs CD for 99 cents this way.

after much deliberation i decided to check if substance was still at this used record place. it was, and i'm happy. :)

You can buy most New Order and Joy Division CDs at Newbury Comics around Boston for $9.99 Brand new !!! A great way to compleet your collection. I did. Ask some one if you dont see them. They are in the cheap section.

I picked up both Permenant and Closer dirt cheap ($6-7 bucks a pop). The interesting thing, though, is that Closer was a used copy (thus $6 isn't too bad) while Permenant was not only new but also the British version! That means I saw the advert for Debbie's book (not in the American booklet) and was able to be aware of it. Pretty good!

just got brotherhood on cd, factory version on e-bay for $5.50 - looking at the picture it looks like the metallic sleeve too - fingers crossed!

Not New Order related strictly speaking, but at least Factory related, I got ACR's To Each.. for a whole £1, and that was brand new. Not bad at all.

Can't think of any New Order bargains as such, but as a general rule I don't pay any more than six or seven quid (maximum) for anything unless it's either new, rare, or imported.

I coughed up £17 the other week for the US verison of (the best of)... Our sleeve is nicer - the shade of blue, that is - but the US tracklisting is better.

I got a Sainsbury's Chicken Tikka Masala for £1.99 last night because the sell-by date was tonight. Result.

Can't beat a decent ruby, a few tins and feet up in front of the telly.

I got Substance from a Goodwill for $6... I still have it too!

Also thanks to half.com I've gotten some good deals, such as 5 bucks or so for Republic, and 4 bucks for PSB's Alternative (Which is two CDs, mind you).

Also bought Soft Cell's Non Stop Erotic Caberet off a friend for 4 bucks.
